UCCE Conducts Dairy Herdsman Short Course
The University of California Cooperative Extension Service recently completed a highly successful educational program for dairy farm employees. This program called, Dairy Herdsman Short Course was conducted April 21 – 23, 2009 at the UC Davis Veterinary Medicine Teaching and Research Center in Tulare, California.
This short course was coordinated by Fresno County UCCE Dairy Advisor Dr. Gerald Higginbotham. Personnel from the University of California Cooperative Extension, UC School of Veterinary Medicine, and California State University-Fresno assisted in the program. The short course provides training for dairy farm employees in various areas of dairy management which includes food safety and dairy herd biosecurity. The course also provides simultaneous translation to Spanish speaking attendees. In addition to local attendees, individuals came from Arizona, Idaho, Iowa, Minnesota, New Mexico, North Dakota, Washington, South Korea and British Columbia Canada.
All the attendees rated the short course very high and look forward to attending again
